Republicans Are Racists

"George Bush doesn't care about black people."-Kanye West

No, Bush and his entire crime family HATE black people. Republican racism has been much more evident in the last five years. The moronic and criminal tax cuts for the obscenely rich have been financed in part by cuts to basic social programs that assist the poor, some of whom happen to be black. Since the coup of 2000 and control of all branches of government by neocon Republican thugs, all pretense of "Liberty and justice for all" is gone.

The current illegal occupants of the White House, with Karl Rove at the helm, have systematically stripped this country of any semblance of fairness. Karl Rove and Lee Atwater have a long history of dirty politics aimed at disenfranchising black people. Had Lee Atwater not died of a brain tumor in 1991 he would no doubt have been a part of this criminal cabal.
Lee Atwater, quoted in Bob Herbert's "Impossible, Reprehensible, Repugnant"

You start out in 1954 by saying, ‘Nigger, nigger, nigger.’ By 1968 you can’t say ‘nigger’ - that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states’ rights and all that stuff. You’re getting so abstract now [that] you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites.
And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I’m not saying that. But I’m saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me - because obviously sitting around saying, ‘We want to cut this,’ is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than ‘Nigger, nigger.’

Harvey Leroy "Lee" Atwater (February 26, 1951 – March 29, 1991) was an American Republican political consultant and strategist. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Atwater is notorious as the very definition of smashmouth politics, in which every effort is made to destroy the reputations, careers and lives of political opponents.

Atwater was a trusted advisor of U.S. Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. He was also a political mentor, close friend of Karl Rove. Atwater's skills at attack politics brought him and his candidates success. His opponents characterized him as "the Darth Vader of the Republican party", "the happy hatchet man", and "the guy who went negative for the sheer joy of it."

"Smashmouth politics" indeed. Atwater apprenticed at the knee of slime-machine adept Donald Segretti, and ramped it up in the sophistication department. Where Segretti was good at smear-laden leaflets and public costume stunts, Atwater retained that basic street slime but polished it up with technology until it blossomed from a dark secret of the Repukilican Party into a fully-functioning and well-funded arm of the party.

With Rove, Segretti's ghost has taken a place at the head table in the White House, where the stench is by now so familiar, no one notices anymore.
