Fear Itself

(Hat tip-wren, from )

"The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself"-FDR
While that may be true during a Democratic administration, the same cannot be said when Republicans occupy the White House. Bushco wants us to fear ideas, intangibles, speech, anything and nothing, each other. The "War on Terror" is a war on a concept. Like a war on thinking, it cannot be won. "America is safer than it has been, yet it is not yet safe"-Lieboy instilling fear.
America is not safe so it would appear the "terrorists" have won. Everybody's a suspect. Nobody is safe where shoes, gel and liquids are present.

DHS Airline precautions.
Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane. Travelers should also anticipate additional security measures within the airport and at screening checkpoints. ...

The Brits have lowered their threat level, no attacks imminent but the U.S. hasn't yet, Chertoff says, the threat of an attack remains...based upon nothing? But what a perfect excuse to pursue spying on Americans and arresting people without cause. Chertoff says the U.S. needs more authorityto do electronic surveillance."It's not like the 20th century, where you had time to get warrants."
No time to get warrants? When FISA isn't enough for fascists, totalitarianism looks good. The thugs want to listen in on our phone conversations but they can't keep track of their own radios. DES MOINES, Iowa A government official says two White House radios found on a pair of Bettendorf teenagers were among a dozen devices that went missing before Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to Iowa last month.
Time to crack down on teenagers?

Looks like he's wearing a giant "Brockabrella" (one of those umbrella hats made popular in the late 1970's and "endorsed" by baseball player Lou Brock).
